Regulator to MO Lawmakers: Nuke Vote Momentus

(The Associated Press) - A Missouri utility regulator says lawmakers will be casting a
historic vote regarding a proposed nuclear plant.Public Service Commission member Jeff Davis testified Tuesday to
a House committee considering a bill allowing utilities to charge
customers for new power plants before they are running.
He said it would be "the most important vote" during their time
in the Legislature. Davis said the law should be changed to allow
financing for large plants.
Commission Chairman Robert Clayton said the bill as written might
hamstring his staff's ability to oversee St. Louis utility AmerenUE's
proposed construction of a $6 billion nuclear power plant.
Neither commission member took an official stance on the bill.
Lawmakers heard more than three hours of testimony but did not take a
vote.
