Columbia Daily Tribune
Missourians for Fair Electric Rates, a group opposed to Ameren's
efforts to overturn a state utility financing law, has scheduled a
public forum at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in commission chambers of the Boone
County Government Center.Lawmakers are likely to consider repealing the so-called
Construction Work in Progress law that prohibits utility companies
from increasing rates to pay for financing during construction
projects.
Ameren contends it cannot build a second nuclear reactor at the
Callaway Nuclear Plant unless the law is repealed.
The group has scheduled a presentation on the law by Peter
Bradford, who specializes in utility regulation and finances.
The government center is at Eighth and Ash streets. A social
period with refreshments starts at 6:45 p.m.
