Nuclear Power Victory
From the CHEJ newsletter:
Many residents of upstate New York celebrated a victory on December 7th when UniStar Nuclear Energy asked the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to temporarily suspend their application to build a nuclear power plant in Oswego, north of Syracuse. Thankfully, the company failed to obtain a federal loan guarantee for the money sinkhole.
Meanwhile in Scottsboro, Alabama, community leaders raised public awareness about the dangers of nuclear power with a Mother Goose Tea Party at a hearing on the proposed Bellefonte plant, held at the Goose Pond Civic Center. Their great poster features Mother Goose saying "No to Radiation in the Tennessee Valley." CHEJ recently helped the group craft a publicity plan to enhance their campaign against the Tennessee Valley Authority's proposed reactor. If your community is fighting a nuclear plant and wants to hold a Messaging and Publicity Meeting
