MONTPELIER -- Gov. Jim Douglas has withdrawn his support for action on Vermont Yankee's relicensing until issues at the nuclear plant are cleared up and new management is in place.??In a short, abruptly called news conference, Douglas said in a prepared statement that he has asked the state Public Service Board to delay a decision on Entergy's request to spin off Vermont Yankee into a separate company. ??He also reversed his stance on the Legislature's voting on the relicensing of the Vernon nuclear plant until the source of a tritium leak can be identified. ??Douglas said he has lost trust in Entergy's current Vermont Yankee management team and expects changes in leadership. The governor said ongoing discussions with Entergy brass have not produced the results he hoped.
